Introduction
In a world where success is often measured by wealth or fame, K. Sankar Singh’s life stands as a testament to the power of honesty, integrity, and unwavering dedication to family. Born in the small village of Jujjur near Vijayawada, Sankar Singh’s journey from a young boy walking 8 kilometers to school to becoming a role model for his children and community is truly inspiring. This is the story of a man who chose family over personal ambition, lived by his principles, and left a legacy far richer than material wealth.
Early Life: The Foundation of Values
Sankar Singh was born in a humble village, where he learned the value of hard work and sincerity from a young age. Walking 8 kilometers daily to attend primary school, he developed a strong sense of determination and discipline. His father gave him a choice either to choose a career or support his family,  Sankar, only 17 years old, made the difficult decision to prioritize his family’s needs over his dreams of college. Here he acts like Dasarada Nandana Sri Ram. This choice led him to Hyderabad, where he took up a job, sacrificing his aspirations to ensure his family’s well-being. His dedication was reminiscent of the devotion shown by Ram to his father, earning him admiration from those around him.
A Life of Service and Integrity
Throughout his career, Sankar Singh was known for his unwavering commitment to honesty and self-respect. As he often said,
“Self-respect is the cornerstone of my life. Without it, nothing else holds value.”
This belief guided him in every decision, even if it meant walking away from a job. He attended numerous training sessions, inspections, and election duties, earning accolades and respect from his peers. A story often told by his friends is how he kept a resignation letter in his pocket at all times, ready to walk away if ever unjustly blamed. For Sankar, self-respect was non-negotiable.
A Father’s Dream Fulfilled Through His Children
Though he sacrificed his educational dreams, Sankar Singh ensured that his children received the best education possible. In an era when sending girls for higher education was not encouraged, Sankar broke societal norms, supporting his daughters in pursuing advanced degrees, including a Ph.D. His children’s academic success was a reflection of his unfulfilled dreams, and he took immense pride in their achievements.
Love, Loss, and Loyalty
Sankar Singh married Sita, a woman whose name perfectly reflected her character. Together, they built a life filled with love and mutual respect. However, tragedy struck when Sita passed away just before Sankar’s retirement, a time when he needed her most. Despite his loss, Sankar remained steadfast in his loyalty to his late wife. When his youngest daughter suggested he remarry, Sankar responded with a gentle smile, saying, “If I share my wife’s place with another, what respect would I be giving to her love? Her memories are enough to lead the rest of my life happily.” From then on, he adopted the name “Sasi,” a combination of Sankar and Sita, as his signature, and at the same time, his daughter called him “Sitapati” a symbol of their enduring bond.
Best Time Spend On
In addition to reading books, he enjoys writing stories. He enjoys playing chess, shuttlecock, and carrom games. He enjoys watching cricket live.
Principles to Live By
Sankar Singh lived by a simple yet powerful set of rules: no lies, no debts, loyalty, honesty, and never compromising on self-respect. These principles guided his life and were the foundation of the values he instilled in his family.
