From a minimal childhood experience with her mother, Srimati Anumala Setty Kamakshi Hari Prasad Rao has matured into a woman who changed the definition of her life and made a difference for others. Her smile is the brightest ornament adorning her ever-smiling face.
That shows Kamakshi as always on time, sweet-tempered, kind to humanity and nature, having principles right or wrong, courageous, and intelligent. She wears multiple hats as an affectionate daughter, a caring sister, a responsible daughter-in-law, a friend-like mother, and a kind-hearted mother-in-law.
But that doesn’t mean she is orthodox! She is always a modern woman, upgrading herself to contemporary times. Kamakshi’s life is a great inspiration for how to face challenges.
Birth and Education
Kamakshi, the first child of Bapanapalli Satyanarayana and Varalamma, was born in the village of Ulavapadu and she has two younger sisters. She completed her primary studies in Ulavapadu, pursued a B.Com degree at GVSN College, and completed her TTC course. She inherited deep spirituality from her mother and learned to be responsible from her father.
Marriage and New Beginnings
She got married with Anumala Setty Hari Prasad Rao, an M.Com graduate, on August 19, 1994. Until then, she had been a pampered daughter, but marriage thrust her into a new world of responsibilities. She moved to Markapuram with her husband for business reasons.Â
In an unfamiliar town with two small sons, Puneeth and Surya Teja, she was open to change and adapted quickly. Along with family obligations, she pursued her passion for education and had become a teacher by then. She always credits her husband as her greatest guide, and he, in turn, counts her as the strength of the family.
Sprout for services
One major accident to her husband turned her way of thinking and sprouted the services. Because of God’s grace, I got immediate help from the people to protect my husband. So it’s my time to pay back the same to the needy. There she started helping needy people in different aspects with 100% support from her husband. She proudly says Hari Prasad is her first guide, mentor, adviser and motivator to step into this service world.
Stepping into Social Work
Kamakshi initiated small ways of kindness by helping underprivileged children with their education, providing food and essentials to needy families, and supporting women in dire situations. Her personality became a symbol of hope for many, with compassion interwoven with problem-solving.Â
However, her path along this journey of social work hasn’t always been pleasant. She struggles with finding a balance between home, work, and service; however, the cause is her strength. She firmly believes a small act of kindness could change someone’s destiny, and that belief pulls her forward.
A Pillar of Social Service
Kamakshi has devoted herself to philanthropy and social causes with open arms to underprivileged communities. She does not just collect and donate items of use but extends her effort to collecting and donating food, clothing, and financial resources for medical treatments. She is a generous woman with whom the lives of many have been touched. She is a beacon of hope for many who do not have things in life.
She actively supports several charitable organizations, including:

- Kaarunya Physically Handicapped, Nellore
- Swarnadeepam Trust, Nellore
- Neelakanta Ashramam, Chirala
- Geetamai Gosala, Nellore
- Sri Krishna Gosala, Chirala
Through this effort, she has made a massive difference in improving living conditions for many seniors, disabled persons, and other vulnerable populations. Her work of selfless care and compassion has led her to extend her influence towards people in need, ensuring none are left behind.
Leadership in Women’s Empowerment and Social Awareness
The authentic campaigner for women’s empowerment, Kamakshi, is an active member and leader in several prestigious organizations working towards uplifting women and marginalized communities. She holds key leadership positions in multiple social service groups:
- GHRAA – Global Human Rights Awareness Association (Awareness programs on human rights)
- Green Hands (Plantation and environmental sustainability initiatives)
- Sri Bramrabika Seva Samiti, Chirala (Devotional and spiritual activities)
- World Arya Vysya Mahasabha (WAM) (Community welfare and development)
- Vasavi International Clubs (VCI) – Region Chairperson (Promoting social welfare programs)
- Vasavi Pariwar – State Committee Member (Empowering women and youth)
Through various platforms and mediums, Kamakshi has dedicated herself to this cause with all her might in social awareness, environmental conservation, and community service, making her a reputable leader in her field of work. Kamakshi believes that women’s empowerment is the solution for societal progress. Therefore, she makes it her commitment to mentor and guide several thousand women so that they can reach levels of independence and autonomy.
Balancing Family and Passion
Kamakshi knew her responsibilities would make her even busier with social service, but over the years, she has never allowed family to become something that could feel neglected. Giving support to mother as son, being mother for her sisters, serving in-laws as daughter, with children as friend, treating daughter-in-laws as daughter are the major appreciated characteristics of Kamakshi.
She believes strongly that family is the strong backbone of any individual, and cheerers supported her with her husband and children. Her sons, Puneeth and Surya Teja, grew to see their mother in her act of dedication and learned from it the values of compassion, hard work, and sufficiency.Â
“I was like a clay lump once, and it is my husband, Hari Prasad Rao, who sculpted me into a fine sculpture,” says Kamakshi proudly.Â
The family, the solid pillar of her foundation, is now behind her, enabling her to follow her passion for social work without an ounce of regret.
